Why is cooking with the family so much fun?
Whether teaching the next generation the cake recipe your grandma used to make or sampling new flavors together, family cooking time brings together key ingredients to create unique family moments. When children cook with their family members or caregivers, they create affective memories and acquire knowledge about the most diverse ingredients.
These experiences also help parents and carers to evolution of children’s taste, because through play it is possible to introduce new foods to the little ones. In addition, preparing recipes together encourages the learning of measures, proportions and chemical reactions.
2 eggs (white and yolk separated)
4 tablespoons butter
1 cup (tea) sugar
1/2 cup powdered chocolate
1/2 cup (tea) wheat flour
3/4 cup milk (tea)
1 cup cashew nuts (chopped)
1 tablespoon chemical baking powder
Special tip: If you wish, you can replace the chocolate powder with cocoa powder that is rich in minerals such as magnesium, copper, iron and phosphorus.
Way of doing
- Ask the child to help separate the whites from the eggs and put it in the mixer. Beat until snow white and set aside.
- Then ask the child to put the yolks, sugar and butter in the mixer. Once this is done, whisk the mixture until the consistency is creamy.
- Invite the child to add the chocolate and flour to the mixture first and the milk last. Remember to keep whisking while the rest of the ingredients are added.
- Turn off the mixer and carefully fold in the egg whites. Then let the child add the chestnuts and yeast and keep stirring with a spoon.
- Divide the dough into cupcake liners lined with paper liners and ask the child to divide them into a mold. Enjoy and suggest the little one decorate them with sprinkles or pieces of chestnut.
- With the oven preheated to medium temperature, bake the Easter cupcakes for 20 minutes or until golden brown. Once cooled, remove from the mold and serve.
